Size wise both my son and my husband got the large. The swim shorts are supposed to be quick dry and they did dry the fastest out of all our bathing suits on vacation recently. The liner feels closer to underwear fabric. The breeze knit liner has 4 way stretch and made from recycled plastic bottles. They are a 7 inch short with a drawstring and elastic waist. The Fair Harbor Bayberry Trunks are on the left in the green floral print. This is much better for any water or beach sports. There is also an added level of protection on the legs as the compression liner is more like a boxer brief or biker short so it prevents chafing. It also provides more room so no pinching. The compression liner is soft and stretchy so no squashing. The mesh liner tends to squash and pinch. So what is the pull of the compression liner versus the traditional mesh liner? In a word comfort.
